Drugs That Help and Prevent Pregnancy

When you have difficulty getting pregnant, the doctor prescribes medications that help you get pregnant or can be called (fertility drugs) that are responsible for stimulating the body to release hormones that regulate the ovulation process and increase the chances of releasing an egg from the ovary.

On the other hand, some women use birth control pills for various reasons, including adjusting their pregnancy date or not wanting to get pregnant right now for some reason. In this article, we will discuss fertility enhancing drugs and everything related to birth control drugs.

Drugs to Help You Get Pregnant

In normal cases where women ovulate less and there are no other health problems related to the possibility of pregnancy, the most commonly used medical drugs are:

Clomid:

Clomifene is used when ovulation does not occur naturally, because the substance in the drug (clomifene) is responsible for stimulating the body to secrete hormones that stimulate ovulation and egg release, and these drugs are often used in conjunction with other methods such as artificial insemination.

Approximately 60-80% of patients taking regular doses of clomen improve their ability to conceive after approximately six months.

• Side effects of the drug:
• Blurred vision
• Nausea
• Bloating
• Headache
• As with any medication or method that stimulates ovulation in a woman, the possibility of conceiving twins

Hormone injections:

If medications alone do not work, the doctor will recommend injecting hormones to stimulate ovulation, and the most important types of hormone injections are:

HCG-containing types: These types are often used with other fertility drugs to stimulate the ovaries to release eggs.
Types that contain hormones (FSH) and stimulate the growth of eggs in the ovaries.
Types containing a mixture of (LH) and (FSH) hormones.
Types containing GnRH, which stimulate the release of FSH and LH substances that increase fertility from the pituitary gland.

As well as other types of injections that help increase fertility, these types of medications are taken as injections, not pills, and the dosage varies depending on how they are used.

Some injections are given under the skin, others are given into the muscles, and sometimes they can be injected into the abdomen, upper arm, upper thigh or buttocks. The doctor usually prescribes these on the second or third day of the menstrual cycle, and the woman continues to take them, sometimes for 7-12 days straight.

This method has a high success rate, with confirmed pregnancies reaching more than 50% after injection.

Other Fertility Drugs

There are other types of medications that doctors prescribe to lower the levels of certain hormones and reduce the activity of the pituitary gland causing problems with ovulation, and these usually come in the form of oral pills and side effects include dizziness and stomach upset.

Birth Control Drugs

On the other hand, some women want to avoid pregnancy for a while after the first pregnancy or immediately after marriage, so they resort to birth control pills and various methods, and here are the most important of these methods:

Copper or hormonal IUD
Birth control pills
Birth control injection
Condom
There are also permanent and irreversible methods such as hysterectomy or ovarian ligation.

Hormonal contraceptives:

They are methods that use hormones to prevent pregnancy and include:

birth control pills

There are two types, the first contains a mixture of two hormones: Yasmin, Ginera, Microgynon, Qlairista and others.

The second type contains only one hormone, such as Cerazette, Microlut and others.

The birth control pill is taken once a day and is up to 99% effective in preventing pregnancy when taken at the right and regular times.

Depo Provera injection

The injection, which is another type of hormonal contraceptive and is taken every three months, reaches 99% effectiveness if it is taken at the specified time and for the specified period without delay.
Finally, in order to avoid any complications, we emphasize that you should not use any birth control pills or pregnancy aids without consulting a doctor and obtaining the dosage and prescription from the doctor.
