Is your baby protected from vaccine-preventable diseases? Here is the CDC and AAP recommended newborn immunization schedule for your baby's first months of life.
Your baby will be given a handful of vaccines and supplements during the first months of life. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend a carefully planned childhood immunization schedule. Following the schedule in the months and years ahead will ensure your baby is immune to dangerous diseases for life.
Vaccines recommended for your little one are closely monitored by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safety and effectiveness. Here are the vaccines your baby will receive from birth to two months.
Vaccines Given at Birth

The hepatitis B vaccine is given before you take your baby home from the hospital. Hepatitis B can cause slow and permanent liver damage in a child. Found in blood and bodily fluids, the virus can persist on the surface for up to a month. Doctors recommend this vaccine for all babies as a preventative against liver disease and virus cancer.
Vaccines Given in Two Months

Hepatitis B Vaccine is given to your baby for the second time during the two-month checkup.
The DTaP Vaccine protects your baby from three life-threatening, toxin-releasing bacterial diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough).
